About

Every year, the “Pan Ner” festival is celebrated, keeping alive the tradition of making black bread the old-fashioned way.
For two days, almost all the bakeries across the Aosta Valley fire up their ovens once again, competing to see who can create the best black bread.

The Project

The client gave us complete creative freedom in telling the story of the two days.

So we decided to narrate the entire process of making black bread, from lighting the oven in the early hours of dawn to the final batch coming out of the oven.
We chose to film several bakeries across the Aosta Valley in order not to focus on just one, thus giving greater visibility and variety to the different ovens taking part in the competition.

In the second part of the video, the focus shifts to the festival and the award ceremony, where ancient crafts are also showcased and brought back to life thanks to the celebration.

Throughout the video, we decided to include on-screen text to help tell the story of both days.
